I’m proud to be a lifelong Delawarean. I grew up downstate in Bridgeville, graduating as valedictorian from Woodbridge Junior/Senior High School. Four years later, as the first member of my family to attend college, I graduated from the University of Delaware Honors Program with an English major, a History minor, a concentration in Ethnic & Cultural Studies, and an Advanced Honors Certificate. For seven years, I worked as a teacher and tutor. For thirteen years, I worked in Medicaid, Medicare, and various state health programs. For ten years, I worked in data governance and technical writing. Today, I work as a paralegal.

I’ve always believed in the importance and power of community service. Since the age of 13, I’ve been active in various community organizations as a volunteer and as a leader. In my adult life, those organizations have included Delaware Pride, the Food Bank of Delaware, Faithful Friends, AIDS Delaware, and the Rainbow Chorale of Delaware. In 2016, I became very involved in local and state politics—learning about and advocating for legislation, helping to organize town halls and debates, and volunteering for candidates for public office, from putting out signs to knocking doors to managing a statewide campaign.

Even then, I never intended to run for public office. But the more I learned about my state representative at the time, the more I thought 27th District residents deserved better—a representative who would listen to them, share their values, and help them with the smallest and biggest things. In 2020, I became state representative for the 27th District. It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life. It has many ups and downs. I’ve had to be open to significant personal growth. I’ve taken a lot of hard punches. But in the end, I’ve had no higher honor or joy in my life than representing and serving the wonderful residents of the 27th District and all of Delaware. I love what I do.

Before I was elected, I made some promises. I’m proud to say I’ve kept them all. I promised that I would never take what I consider “dirty money,” and I don’t. There is a long list of entities from which I will not accept campaign contributions, including corporations, developers, lobbyists, fossil fuel companies, and utility companies. From the last election cycle through today, over 93% of our campaign contributions have come from individual donors. I promised I would never go “not voting” on a bill unless I had a personal conflict of interest, and I haven’t. You sent me to Dover to make hard decisions. That’s part of the job. I promised I would read every email sent to me, and I do. I promised I would always be honest with constituents about where I stand on issues and legislation, and I am.

I am humbled that for six years, 27th District voters have entrusted me to represent and serve them. Much of my work doesn’t happen in Dover. It happens right here in the district. When a constituent contacts me for help, their issue stays in my tracking spreadsheet until I confirm with the constituent that it’s been taken care of. I attend HOA and civic association meetings and community events. I hold frequent town halls and Food Bank of Delaware volunteer nights. I keep constituents updated on my work, what’s going on in Dover, and “news you can use” via newsletters, email blasts, and social media posts. After the 2026 election season, I look forward to continuing doing all these things and working as hard for you as I always have.
